Having grown up in Blacksburg, Garrett and his wife, Meg, stayed in the New River Valley after graduating from VA. Tech and now own businesses in Radford. Garrett is Past-President of the New River Valley Association of REALTORS. Being active in the community as well, Garrett received the 2003 Business Person of the Year Award by the Radford Chamber of Commerce. In 1995, Garrett and Meg built a home on Claytor Lake where they reside now.
